1. Viking Preparation
Before Vikings begin, every member of the alliance can contribute whether they are online or offline. The goal is simple: maximise points for the alliance by ensuring every castle can be reinforced for full value.
Send Your Troops Out
Your troops should not remain inside your castle during Vikings. If they stay inside, they reduce the points earned by players reinforcing you.
To prevent this and keep scoring efficient, you have two options:
1. Reinforce Other Players
Whether you are online or offline, you can reinforce alliance members. Reinforcing is the core of Viking scoring and also helps protect castles from burning.
2. Send Troops to Gather RSS
If you do not want to reinforce others, send your troops to farm. This clears your castle so reinforcers earn maximum points.
We hold an alliance vote to confirm everyone has sent their troops out. This ensures full participation and maximum point gain.
2. Troop Points
Choosing the right troops is the key to maximising Viking points. Not all troop types contribute equally.
Troop Scoring Overview
- Infantry: highest points
- Cavalry: good points because they counter the Viking attack
- Archers: zero points, leave them at home
Recommended Ratio
70 percent Infantry and 30 percent Cavalry
Garrisoning Plains HQ (Level 10 and 20)
Testing shows:
- Infantry only previously scored triple the points compared to mixed troops
- A 70/30 Infantry and Cavalry mix now scores even higher
Fairness and Troop Limits
To keep scoring fair for all alliance members:
- Maximum troops to send: 60 to 65k
- Recommended defence heroes: Saul or Gordon
Reinforcement Capacity (Minimum Requirements)
Each city needs enough troops inside to safely absorb Viking hits.
Minimum recommended:
- 400k TG3+ troops at a 70/30 split
- 500k TG2+ troops at a 70/30 split
Once your city reaches this capacity:
- Stop reinforcing your own city
- Send extra troops to reinforce others
3. In-Game Play
Some Viking levels are online only, giving active players a chance to adjust reinforcements and earn extra points.
Online Only Rounds
During these rounds, online players can:
- Recall troops from offline players
- Reinforce online players to gain additional points
After Online Only Rounds
Once the online only level ends:
- Return to reinforcing offline players immediately
- The priority is to stop their cities from burning
- Offline castles must be covered so they do not take unnecessary damage
Burning Cities and 2/2 Defeats
If a city is burning and has already taken 2 out of 2 defeats:
- Recall your troops
- That city will not be attacked again
- Move your troops to other players who still need protection or can still earn points
Deployment Limits and Troops to Leave at Home
You cannot send all troops out due to deployment capacity and march queues.
Leave Cavalry at home.
- Reinforcers may lose a small amount of points
- Cavalry score lower than Infantry anyway
- Reinforcers still earn good points
- Your city remains safer
4. TG5 Whales (High Power Players)
If you are TG5 and want to reinforce your own city:
Alliance Vote
Select: Online – No troops required
This tells others not to waste reinforcements on you.
Recommended Troop Requirements
To hold safely:
- 140k TG5 Infantry
- 140k TG5 Cavalry
